Christmas Eve in Paris has really turned it on weather wise, and not in a good way! The wind has howled all night, and in additional to broken tree branches littering the (pretty empty) streets, the wind has been strong enough to rip the latch off the window shutter on my apartment, which then happily banged against the window frame all night. It’s a bit worse down the street and round the corner – a section of stonework on the side of a building has collapsed onto the pavement. Other than a windy trip to Monoprix to fill up the fridge for tomorrow, it seems a good day to stay indoors, turn on the dishwasher, and edit some photos!
By the evening, the weather has improved enough for a stroll along Boulevard Beaumarchais. BB is where you go to buy a new piano, drum kit or guitar from Paul Beuscher. It’s also where you go to buy a new Harley or accessories.
Most importantly, it’s where you find the majority of photographic supply shops in Paris, such as Prophot, Cirque Photo and Images Photo. There is a bright modern store dedicated to Leica right next door to Le Grand Format, a shop selling second hand film and large format cameras. There is also a shop that rents cameras and equipment.
Throw in a shop that specialises in jewellery boxes and others that sell tableware, and there is everything a Harley-riding, piano-playing photographer with a penchant for bling and a well-dressed table could possibly need! I’ll be needing a side-car on the Harley for the drum-kit though…
