The weather forecast is for 3-4 metre waves and strong winds during our crossing of the Denmark Strait to Iceland on Le Boreal this evening. The crew spend a lot of time battening down potentially flying objects, but the rough seas do not eventuate, and in places the Denmark Strait resembles a mill pond. We are finally seeing some birds around the ship, and a distant whale breath is also sighted in the morning. Otherwise a very quiet sea day en route to Iceland….
It’s a good day to try to catch up on photo editing, back-ups and blog entries. It’s a standing joke that Greenland and Iceland are mis-named. Greenland is mostly covered in ice, and would be a good candidate to be called ‘Iceland’, and Iceland, well, more green than icy, if you discount the huge glacier that occupies the centre of the country!
