Well, it’s time to begin the EPIC 2012 travel blog – this is how I’ve chosen to spend 7 weeks of annual leave and a total of 57 days of travelling! Here’s a rough overview of the itinerary….
- Melbourne to Sydney on Qantas, staying at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth
- Sydney to Santiago on Qantas with a short connection from Santiago to Calama on LAN airlines, with a stay at Awasi Atacama
- A brief stop in one of my favourite cities, Buenos Aires, to meet the charter flight to Ushuaia
- Ushuaia in Argentina to the Falkands, South Georgia, and Tristan da Cunha to Cape Town, South Africa on the National Geographic Explorer as it repositions from the Southern to Northern Hemisphere
- 6 days in South Africa, including Cape Town, the Garden Route and Kwandwe Private Game Reserve
- Cape Town to London on British Airways
- 5 days in London, staying at the Pullman Hotel at St Pancras
- 2 weeks in Paris in an apartment in the 1st arrondisessement through rentals-paris.com with a side-trip to Venice
- London to Melbourne on Qantas
In other words an epic voyage from South America to South Africa…with a bit of Paris, London and Venice thrown in for good measure.
